Beverly Michaelis

Beverly Michaelis, Esq.

Beverly Michaelis is the law practice management advisor for the Oregon State Bar Professional Liability Fund, providing practice management assistance to Oregon attorneys. Her aim, she says, is “to reduce their risk of malpractice claims, enhance their enjoyment of practicing law and improve their client relationships.”

Michaelis shares great tips on her blog, Oregon Law Practice Management. Recent posts have included advice on setting up a conflict system in Outlook 2010 and using Quicken 2011 for trust accounting, as well as a side-by-side comparison of SendNow and YouSendIt.

Now, Michaelis has agreed to be featured on Lawyer Tech Review’s App Friday.

App for work

Michaelis writes, “Do I really have to pick one?” but tells us that her camera comes in at No. 1.  She uses it in a wide variety of ways, from taking a quick picture of her parking spot to photographing inventories of files and scanning documents in video mode. “If I want to remember something on the fly, I take a photograph,” she says.

Michaelis, who is also active in social media networks, also lists TweetDeck, LinkedIn and Foursquare as favorite work apps. Every morning, while eating breakfast, she checks these apps without fail as well: Dropbox, Acrobat.com, and DocsToGo.

App for fun

“Without a doubt,” Michaelis writes, “Facebook.” Posting on-the-go status updates and uploading mobile pics are two of her favorite Facebook activities. Other favorite apps for fun: Urbanspoon, Starbucks, Wikihood, College FB and the Huffington Post.
