App Friday: Michelle Hynes’ Favorite Applications

Portrait of Michelle Hynes, Lawyer

Michelle Hynes, a recent graduate of the University of Glasgow’s School of Law, is starting a training contract with Graham Walker solicitors soon. Before entering law, Hynes worked in marketing and business development; since 2009 she has worked as a legal marketing and business development consultant for Road Traffic Law.

Hynes is a blogger and is active on Twitter. Her insights on law and the changing landscape of the legal profession are shared on Legaleaglemhm’s Blawg and @legaleagleMHM.

In this week’s App Friday, Hynes highlights some of her favorite apps for her “trusty and loyal” BlackBerry Bold.

Apps for work

As someone who juggles the heavy demands of work and law school, Hynes relies heavily on apps that help keep her organized while she’s on the go.

Snaptu is a free service that allows the user to download several apps, including those for Twitter, Facebook, the browser Picasa, news and blog feeds, ESPN, and AccuWeather, at once. Hynes says that Snaptu for Twitter “is incredibly user friendly and allows me to manage multiple twitter accounts.”

Nice Office, from eAgency, transforms Hynes’ BlackBerry into a mobile office, allowing Hynes to manage her email, contacts and tasks. It also stores documents and tracks workflow. (Nice Office offers a 30-day free trial, after which it is $9.95 per month.)

App for fun

Hynes notes that for anyone in the legal profession “there is always work” — and her love of social media has proved useful in sharing information and legal resources with a growing network of lawyers and law students around the world. Her two favorite social media apps are UberSocial, formerly known as UberTwitter, and Facebook for BlackBerry.
