App Friday: Stacey E. Burke’s Favorite Apps

Portrait of Stacey E. Burke, lawyer

Stacey E. Burke is a personal injury lawyer who has been with Houston-based Schechter McElwee Shaffer & Harris since 1999. Burke manages the firm’s intake department, supervises the firm’s marketing and is actively involved in the firm’s Web and social media marketing. Her attorney profile page on the firm’s website invites visitors to connect with her through a variety of social media venues, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Rocket Lawyer, Avvo and Justia.

In this week’s App Friday, Burke tells us about some of her favorite apps.

BlackBerry and iPad

Apps for work

When it comes to the BlackBerry, Burke’s workhorse apps are Twitter for BlackBerry, Foursquare, LinkedIn, Facebook and Go Daddy. Because she’s responsible for her firm’s social media marketing, the Twitter app comes in handy when she needs to respond to messages that mention her username (@StaceyEBurke) — direct messages as well as urgent posts. Having Go Daddy at her beck and call allows Burke to purchase domain names as ideas for URLs with search engine advantages come to mind.

On her iPad, Burke uses Twitter for iPad, as well as Friendly, an unofficial Facebook app.

App for fun

Burke admits, “I am addicted to Words with Friends.” The Scrabble-style social game allows players to chat and play multiple games simultaneously. It isn’t unusual for Burke to play 10 to 15 games at once, some against Twitter followers she’s never met. (She’s the second lawyer profiled in App Friday to confess a love for the addictive game. David Flint is also a fan.)

Burke says, “I really enjoy the ability to play the game at your own pace, over days at a time, and even chat with friends during the game through their chat feature.”
